Judy Thorne Blalock passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 26, 2023 following a brief illness.Â
She was preceded in death by her parents Brice and Eleanor Thorne.Â
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, David Blalock; a sister Elaine (Wayne) Stewart; her children, Julie Howell, Beth (Michael) Cox and Parker (Brigid) Howell; grandchildren, Anne (Collin) Cornutt, Julia Shelley, Mitchell (Kathryn) Cox, Sarah Agna Cox, Julian Howell, Emily Howell, and Liberty Cox; great – grandchildren, Parker Lane Cornutt and Davis Thorne Cornutt; nephews, Brice (Michelle) Wilson, Jeffrey (Courtney) Wilson; and several great nieces and nephews.
Judy was a 1961 graduate of AG Parrish High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Birmingham Southern College, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She received her masters degree from Auburn University Montgomery, and also graduated from Alabama Banking School.Â
She and David moved from Selma to Bainbridge, Ga. in 1987 where she was employed with First Port City Bank until her retirement in 2006, as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer. She and David then returned home to Alabama to be close to family.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on January 2, 2024 1 to 3 pm at Bolton Funeral Home in Columbiana, Al. A private graveside service will be held at a future date in Selma.
