Sandra Gayle Moody Monte

Mrs. Sandra Gayle Moody Monte, 72, of Salem, AL passed away Monday, May 6, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am EST Monday, May 13, 2024 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Jammie Holloway officiating.  Interment will follow at Ladonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. 

Mrs. Monte was born July 15, 1951 in Columbus, GA, daughter of the late William Randol Moody and Trudy Sexton Moody.  She retired from Peek Pavement Marking, where she worked in the accounting department, with over 16 years of service.   Mrs. Monte enjoyed beach trips and traveling.  She was a youth counselor at Silver Run Baptist Church for many years.  Mrs. Monte was a member of Calvary Tabernacle Church. Her passion in life was spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy” Marvin Monte, Sr., a sister, Shirley Edwards and a brother, William Randol Moody, Jr.

Mrs. Monte is survived by a daughter, April Wade and husband Timothy of San Antonio, TX; two sons, Brady Butler and wife Julie and Randy Butler and wife Jamie, all of Smiths Station, AL; a brother, Russell Moody and wife Donna of Phenix City, AL; brother-in-law, Charlie Edwards (Jean);  12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; several extended family members and friends.
