Wesley Charles Money, 72, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away on March 29, 2024 after a lengthy illness. Wesley was born on March 21, 1952 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Howard Wesley Money and Juanita Lee (Miller) Money. He attended Midland City Schools in Midland City, Alabama, graduating in 1970 from Dale County High School. After graduating from high school, Wesley continued his education at George C. Wallace State Technical College in Napier Field, Alabama, graduating with an Associate in Arts degree. He furthered his education at the Hull Technician "A" School and the Naval Station in San Diego, California, learning welding, brazing, and nondestructive testing of metals. He was also instructed in damage control and went through fire-fighting school while serving in the U.S. Navy. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Wesley traveled the world, working as a contractor conducting safety inspections at nuclear power plants around the globe. In later years, Wesley had an illustrious career with G.E., EPRI, and NASA before retiring. At one point during his career, Wesley and his wife Jennifer Dawn (Murphy) Money lived in the Eufaula area, owning the Lake Eufaula Campground. Wesley was a lifelong Alabama Crimson Tide fan, having loved football all his life. He loved watching football and baseball, and especially coaching both his sons during their youth playing sports. Even today, Wesley is remembered by all the lives he touched during his years of coaching, as he taught others to love athletics as much as he did. Wesley is survived by his sons Jesse Clay Money and Lance Bryant Money, both of Wilmington, North Carolina; two brothers, Richard C. (Lynne) Money of Huntsville, Alabama and Jerry H. (Kim) Money of Palm Harbor, Florida; a sister Penny L. (Darren) Carter of Clayton, Alabama; nieces and nephews: Terri Money of Birmingham, Alabama, Kelly (Tim) Whitehead of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Clifton (Abbey) Carter of Topeka, Kansas, Mason (Lauren) Carter of Eufaula, Alabama, Jennifer Money Carmack of Huntsville, Alabama, Benjamin (Hannah) Money of Athens, Alabama, Rebecca (Robert) Hurley of Huntsville, Alabama, Campbell Walsh of Huntsville, Alabama, several grandnieces, nephews, aunts, an uncle, and many cousins. He is preceded in death by both parents and a niece, Amanda Jolee Carter Goins. A memorial in the form of an Irish Wake will be held at a later date.
