Earlier this week, Burton football coach Jason Hodde said 3-0 would be a great feeling.

A three-hour thrill ride eventually led to that victorious feeling after a double-overtime classic.

Burton (3-0) defeated Schulenburg 68-66 Friday night at Panther Stadium after two overtimes came down to two-point conversions.

The Panthers needed a last-second touchdown in regulation to tie the game at 54-54. A missed PAT sent the game into overtime.

Schulenburg converted first in overtime on a rushing touchdown, but could not get a two-point conversion.

Burton quarterback Kayden Patterson responded with a one-yard rushing score of his own on a fourth down situation. The Panthers could not get a two-point try to go for the win, forcing double overtime.

Patterson found Yobani Brewer for a touchdown on the second play of double overtime. He earned the ensuing two-point conversion to apply pressure on the Shorthorns.

Schulenburg also earned a touchdown on its double-overtime possession. However, an unsuccessful two-point conversion gave Burton its first 3-0 mark since 2022.

This story will be updated with Burton's stats and more information.
