Cedrick Simmons, a Selma football standout, has switched his commitment from playing for Auburn to playing for Alabama.
Simmons, a three-star receiver, announced his Auburn University commitment on June 23 but this week says he now will play for Alabama, according to Bama 247Â and Touchdown Alabama.Â
The wide receiver will play for Selma High School in the fall before graduating next spring. He spent the last three years of high school playing for Southside High but is following his coach Charles Moody who moved to the Saints last spring.
Simmons had 14 colleges recruiting him, including the University of Alabama and Purdue, according to 24/7 Sports. Read an interview with Simmons about the Alabama choice here.
The online sports channel says Simmons was a Bama fan before making the Auburn commitment.
Simmons had a strong junior season with 106 receptions for 2,192 yards and 20 touchdowns. Simmons also totaled 34 tackles and seven interceptions on defense.
