The AISA Class AA Region 2 Wilcox Academy Wildcats improved to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in region play with a rebound 35-0 regional win on the road at Jackson Academy Friday night.
The Wildcats were coming off a 40-0 loss to regional opponent the Patrician Academy Saints the previous week.
Against the Eagles in Friday night’s win, Lee Hollinger had 13 carries for 103 yards and one touchdown; Julian Curry had 20 carries for 71 yards and one touchdown; and Jim Vick had two carries for 53 yards and one touchdown.
Also, for the Wildcats, Jackson Biggs had one carry for 18 yards and a touchdown. Harrison Travis had two receptions from Haas Terry for 46 yards. And Travis returned a punt 48 yards for a touchdown. J.J. Sessions kicked five extra points.
Vick led the way on defense with eight tackles. Travis, Steele Swanner and Tate Crabtree all had one interception each.
“We played a good game. I'm proud of the boys,” said Wilcox Academy head football coach Lebo Jones.
The Wildcats will travel for another regional contest at South Choctaw Academy Rebels on Sept.19.
