In 1976, the bicentennial year of the United States, the price of gasoline was 56 cents per gallon. And since then, the Morgan Academy Class of ’76 celebrated their 50th anniversary May 1-3.
On Friday, the Class of ’76 celebrated with pizza, chips and salsa at The Sand Bar in Selma. On Saturday, the group celebrated with a brunch at Southern Sportsman Lodge and with a dinner at Tally Ho. On Sunday, they celebrated with a service at Benton Baptist Church.
Also on Saturday, the class toured Morgan Academy to see what they remembered and what has changed about the school. And the group toured the Selma Art Guild Gallery with SAG President and class member Cam Walker Guarino.
Attending events as part of the celebration were former Headmaster Jack Moseley; Betty Tims, former history teacher; and Jean Moore, former school Secretary.
Class of ’76 students who attended the various events were: Jerry Siegel, Jeff Williams, RoseMary Wood Ayers, Roy Ramsey, Vicki Griffeth Bennett, Ginger Wood Reeder, Claude Camp, John Blanton, Tudy Nichol, Cheryl Jowers Olinger, Scott Alexander, Jane Brown Stallman, Tom Sommerville, Becky Mott Hardy, Woody Till, Guarino, Martha Miller Sims and Craig Stewart.
