A 19-year-old man died of multiple gunshot wounds July 19 at Uniontown Apartments.

A 19-year-old Uniontown man was shot to death in Uniontown July 19, less than a week after a 15-year-old was shot in Uniontown.

The shooting occurred at the Uniontown Apartments, formerly known as the Rabbit Yard, around 1:15 a.m.

Daitwon McCloud, age 19, died at the scene from several gunshot wounds. Apartment Manager Rashawn Jamison and several residents said McCloud was not supposed to be at the apartments because of a restraining order put on him by resident Markeria Williams, who is the mother of McCloud’s child. Williams’ mother, Tamika Williams, who also lives in the unit, confirmed that McCloud was under a restraining order.

Residents said that the night before the shooting, McCloud and Williams had a physical altercation. Police were called, but there were no arrests.

Jamison, who said she ran to the scene at the sound of gun shots, said, “It has been very hard to deal with such tragedy, having to see him lie lifeless just inches from her door.” She said all she could do was cry and pray as she wiped the blood from her car.

The alleged shooter, Markell Williams, is the brother of Markeria Williams and lives in the same unit with her and their mother. He is currently not in custody. Police have not made a statement.

Because of a rash of violence and shootings in Uniontown, a 10 p.m. curfew has been imposed as of July 18. Part of the memo stated, “Uniontown Apartments have a 10 p.m. curfew. No one should be hanging outside or in the parking lot after 10 p.m.”
