Community Service Programs of West Alabama was among other agencies to receive funds in another round of grants from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA).

$39.8 million were distributed to 20 community services to assist qualified low-income households with energy bills.

“With summer in full swing in Alabama, many residents require assistance to stay comfortable in their homes during sweltering temperatures,” Gov. Kay Ivey said in an announcement. “These grants will provide additional funding to assist in lowering home energy costs for those who need help the most.”

$3.77 million was granted to Community Service Programs of West Alabama, which serves Dallas, Bibb, Choctaw, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Perry, Sumter and Tuscaloosa counties.

“ADECA joins Gov. Ivey in partnering with community action agencies to provide assistance, particularly to those low-income individuals and families who are elderly, have a disability or have children in the home,” said ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell.
