A health insurance company sent representatives into Selma’s lower-income neighborhoods last week to get more residents signed up for coverage on the exchange.
On April 9, Premier Health Insurance representatives visited several neighborhoods in Selma, offering free enrollment for health insurance at healthcare.gov.
Representative Daljavon Johnson told the Selma Sun during her recruiting process in Ward 4 that, “We are out here on foot, trying to get people enrolled because it’s just a quicker process. If you do it over the phone, it will take upwards of two hours.”
Premier Health Insurance is working with the federal government’s Health Insurance Marketplace increase enrollment in their health insurance plans by offering it for free, according to their IR representatives that came to Selma. Premier Health Insurance comes up in an online search as an accredited Private Commercial Health Insurance Scheme under National Health Insurance Act 2012.
When asked if the crew will return to Selma, Johnson said they travel all over the country and don’t know when the next we will come back.
