- Loo never look so good -

Lagos may be the only place on the planet where women want to look their best going into a nightclub toilet rather than coming out of one.

For the ladies' rooms of many of the Nigerian megacity's throbbing nightspots double as glammed up selfie studios.

So glamorous in fact that at the Zaza lounge, pressing a button on the bathroom wall summons a complimentary glass of champagne that pops through a small window.

It's all part of the mutually beneficial effort to get the most beautiful smiles possible in front of the bathroom's many mirrors, assistant manager Johnny Franjeh told AFP.

"The decor plays a huge role" in pleasing their clientele and getting social media clicks, he said, with some clubs going in for chandeliers and lots of faux marble and gold.

The trend has sparked a restroom decoration arms race, with the Rococo cabaret claiming it invented the idea.

Two weeks before opening, staff posted a photo from its bathroom.

"Maybe two hours later we got like 200 requests for booking," CEO Ghada Ghaith said, with those making reservations mistaking the restroom for its restaurant.

- Greek tragedy -

Sunday was a very dark day indeed for the Greek footballing dynasty, the Petrakis family.

Giorgos Petrakis, 37, was sacked as coach of former Greek champions Larissa after they suffered a shock 5-2 home defeat to local rivals Volos.

Hours later his father Giannis, 66, got the boot from Panetolikos after his team lost six-nil to Levadiakos.

The drubbing was the worst in the club's history, taking the family's toll of leaked goals to 11 for the weekend.

- Explosive recipe -

French onions nearly made Dutch eyes water when authorities discovered two hand grenades hidden among a load of the root vegetables.

The onions were en route to a factory in the northern Dutch province of Zeeland, where they risked becoming a rather explosive ingredient.

"The projectiles were identified to be consistent with pre-1925 French and German manufactured chemical weapons," the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) concluded after peeling back the layers of the case.

How the grenades got in with the onions remains a mystery.

- Real stamp of approval -

No such worries about what has to be the world's most lickable stamp. The French post office has come up with a croissant-scented one to celebrate the country's favourite breakfast treat.

The air of a post office in Valence was filled with the smell of buttery, flaky crust pastry as collectors queued up to buy them. Director Anthony Richet told AFP he was "quite proud" of the stamps, which fittingly sell for around the same price as a croissant.
