From a restored concert hall in Finland to a timeless Italian dining room in London, this year's list of the World's Most Beautiful Restaurants celebrates spaces where architecture is just as memorable as the food.

The annual list, compiled by the Prix Versailles, recognizes restaurants where architecture, interior design and dining come together to create an exceptional guest experience. Announced in June, the 2026 selections showcase Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the United States, celebrating restaurants that stand out for more than just their food.

Le Fou, Vienna, Austria

Housed inside Vienna’s historic Hotel Ambassador, Le Fou tops this year’s list with a design that mixes historic architecture with contemporary interiors. Rust and terracotta tones, gold accents and touches of leopard print give the rooms a playful, theatrical edge while still fitting within the hotel’s grand setting.

The restaurant pays tribute to Vienna’s grand dining tradition while introducing contemporary design that respects the hotel’s historic architecture.

Monti, Gstaad, Switzerland

Monti brings a distinctly Alpine character to the list. Reclaimed 200-year-old timber from local farmhouses lines the walls and ceilings, while locally crafted elm furniture, woven bronze dividers and mohair banquettes add warmth throughout the dining room.

Instead of making a bold architectural statement, the restaurant lets its craftsmanship take center stage, pairing traditional Swiss materials with clean, modern lines.

Finlandia Bistro, Helsinki, Finland

Located inside the iconic Finlandia Hall, Finlandia Bistro stands out for seamlessly blending modern dining with one of Finland's most celebrated architectural landmarks. Designed by the Finnish studio Fyra, the restaurant incorporates furniture by legendary architect Alvar Aalto, creating a space that feels both timeless and welcoming.

Tym Lewtak, founder of LuxAtolls, visited during a Nordic trip earlier this year and said the restaurant perfectly balances history with contemporary dining.

"It's a masterclass in combining design with cultural heritage. The interior masterfully incorporates original Alvar Aalto furniture to create a remarkably cozy and timeless aesthetic."

Lewtak said the menu's emphasis on seasonal Nordic ingredients complemented the building's thoughtful design. He called it "a flawless recommendation for travelers who appreciate sustainable, thoughtful design and Nordic culinary artistry."

Carbone, London, England

Carbone London reimagines classic Italian-American dining with an unhurried atmosphere. Rather than emphasizing visual spectacle alone, the restaurant's carefully planned layout, generous table spacing and attentive service create an experience perfect for a conversation and lingering over a meal.

John VanDerLaan, founder of Golf Gear Advisor, said what stayed with him after visiting in 2025 wasn't simply the restaurant's appearance.

"The overlooked measure of a great restaurant is not how impressive it looks when you first enter; it is whether the space changes your behavior," he said. "The design lived up to the reputation because it did not feel like decoration added after the fact."

VanDerLaan said the atmosphere encouraged diners to slow down in a world built around speed, making the evening feel "like an event rather than just a meal."

Marlow, Monaco

Rounding out the first five is Marlow in Monaco, where contemporary architecture meets the glamour of the Mediterranean. Large windows, natural light and carefully selected materials create an airy dining room that draws attention to the surrounding waterfront.

The restaurant reflects Monaco's modern style while maintaining an understated elegance, demonstrating that thoughtful design doesn't have to be extravagant to leave a lasting impression.
