Police are still searching for information about the murder of Montgomery resident Stacy Swain 39 years ago.Â
According to Alabama Cold Case Advocacy, Swain was 18 years old when she went missing from her parents' home on Mallory Street in Montgomery on Feb. 8 in 1986.Â
She reportedly went out for a date and was thought to have returned home when her family heard someone in the house during the night, but was not in her room the next morning.Â
An investigation followed and Swain's body was found by a family member in a drainage ditch somewhere behind the residence. She was partially clothed and had been covered by debris from a recent storm.Â
An autopsy reported that she died from two or more injuries to the head.Â
A suspect was developed based on a witness who placed a person near the scene of the crime but further evidence could not be gathered and so it became a cold case.Â

Anyone who has information is asked to contact Central Alabama Crimestoppers at 334-215-7867 or submit an anonymous tip online at 215stop.com.
