Here are Week 5’s high school football scores from across the Black Belt region.
Thorsby 42, Hale County 37
After a slow start, with a punt returned by Thorsby for a touchdown the only points in the first quarter, the offenses opened up in the second quarter, with two more touchdowns by Thorsby and three touchdowns by Hale County resulting in a 22-22 tie near halftime.
Verbena 46, Ellwood Christian 12
ECHS trailed 22-6 at halftime after punching in a touchdown with less than a minute left in the second quarter, but could get no closer.
Montgomery Academy 62, Northside Methodist 6
Reid McBride completed all five of his passes for 102 yards and Mac Benefield  rished five times for 103 yards in MA's demolition of Northside Methodist.
University Charter 62, Pickens Academy 0
Kameron Watkins had three first-half rushing touchdowns of 50, 38, and 21 yards for UCS, and Josiah Dubose caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from Thomas Smith and returned a fumble 55 yards for two more scores in the first half before UCS cruised to victory in the second half.
