Two tornadoes in 2025 caused major destruction in two counties, including loss of lives in north Dallas County.

An EF-3 tornado touched down in the north Dallas County town of Plantersville on March 15 killing two along the Lovelady Drive area. Volunteers came out in droves to help, with Plantersville Baptist Church serving as headquarters.

The deaths included a male about 70 years old who was killed while in his workshop. The other was an 80-year-old woman who lived in a manufactured home, who was found at 4 a.m. among debris in a field the next day.

An EF-1 tornado struck the Pine Hill community of Wilcox County on April 6, damaging two businesses and some properties in the rural area. No one was injured in that storm.

One business that was badly damaged was Mike's Country Kitchen that rebuilt after the storm and reopened on Dec. 8.
